Book review: Law 10 of 21 Irrefutable laws of leadership.

Law of connection.

INTRODUCTION:
"It's one thing to communicate to people because you believe you have something of value to say. It's another to communicate with people because you believe they have value...leaders touch the heart before they ask for a hand".

REVIEW:
Unlike popular thinking, the author believes that when it comes to working with people, the heart comes before the head. He went on to make certain and more understanding this belief when he said that, "the stronger the relationship you form with followers, the greater the connection you forge - and more likely those followers will be to want to help you"

He stressed that one important way to communicating in a group is relating to them as individuals as he gives out more ways which can help connect people to a leader which are;
Connecting with self.
Communicating with openness and sincerity.
Knowing your audience.
Living your message.
Going where they are.
Focusing on them, not yourself.
Believing in them.
Offering directions and hope.

Unconditionally, he says that it's the leaders job to come up first and not the people (though not so in few cases). As he puts it, "they take the first step with others and then make effort to continue building the relationship...". And warned that, "the tougher the challenge, the greater the connection...and it's more stressful".

Having made the difficulty of trying to connect known, he brightens the day as he mentions the result which obviously, far out weights the difficulties. According to him, employees and followers exhibit loyalty and strong work ethics and the vision of the leader becomes the aspiration of the people.

Closing, he warned, "don't ever underestimate the importance of building a relational bridge between yourself and the people you lead. To lead yourself, use your head, to lead others, use your heart". Remember, people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.
