YOUR MIND YOUR ENGINE

Following the misconception that has eaten deep in the minds of the youths today, it is vital to write on this topic. It has been on my mind for quite a while now and has haunted me but due to procrastination or should I say waiting for the right time, I couldn’t do anything. But today, today is very different-not just for me but also for you. As I picked my pen to write down the topic, it came to me; the memory, the forgotten. It came to me when I needed it most though without knowing what really I had wanted-THE STORY.
I remembered the story of a man who despite all odds, created history, who despite the challenges, converted them to his conveniences. I remembered the story of Thomas Edison, who despite being called a failure, made up his mind to continue what he had started already. As am writing this, I remembered exactly, word by word what I read, “I never worked in my life because, it was fun all through”. This were the words of a man who tried and tried before he finally created the light bulb. T his were the words of a man whose wife underestimated him and his friends disbelieved yet, he went on doing what he was doing.
I could remember, as I was reading, a question came to my mind. Actually, I was thinking aloud so a friend answered immediately, “HIS MIND WAS MADE UP”. At once, I gained control of myself and the situation but I couldn’t understand, was he reading with me or was I really talking instead of thinking. Just again the question came to me, “what really kept Thomas going”. Then I remembered the answer my friend gave me. Does it mean that people knows the solution to their GREATNESS and yet they dwell in poverty? Does it mean that people know actually that they are magnificent and yet they behave like mediocre. What was really happening? I couldn’t answer them-not with little time I was given.
I looked at my friend again-guess what, I asked him the question and behold he gave the same answer. Edison was inspired because he had shot his mind from what people were saying to him. He had decided that he would create a legacy and that no matter what come may, he would complete the good work he had started. That was his ‘mind set’. Van Crouch rightly observed, “you can’t change your actions until you change your mind”. That day, I decided to let my peers and many others know how great and powerful their mind can be if they should control it and channel it into the society for a positive change. That day, I decided to write this.
People walk around unaware of what they are. They roam in absolute ignorance about their true identity. They dwell in what they expect to be given without knowing they are capable of producing. They forget that they were made in the image of their creator, GOD. Truly ignorance has as a canker worm eaten deep in human.
According to Steven R. Covey, man comprises of ;the heart, the body, the spirit and the mind. Each with its different function. The mind he said was responsible for learning (growth and development). The mind is what I call the verve of motivation. Andrew Carnegie rightly said, “all earned riches and all true achievement originated from an idea”. The mind can be likened to the engine of a car of which without-though it has other parts-can do nothing.
Arguably, then mind is seen as the most important part that makes up man. Why? It is the aspect of intellect and consciousness experienced as a combination of thoughts, perception, memory, emotion, will and imagination including all unconsciousness. It is the unseen that brings out the seen, the unheard that is heard from. As elucidated in the story above, the mind is the main source. It determines you!
Could you pause fur a moment and think of what came to you now? What was it? The truth is this, you can never create what you have not seen. First, you picture your greatness before you direct others to see it. When the Fantasy Land was launched, a reporter walked up to Mrs. Disney, sympathized with her and said, “Mr. Disney would have been very proud if he had seen this”. But the woman replied, “my husband has seen this before commissioning it before he died”. Walt Disney died before realizing that dream but at least, it originated from his mind. As he advised, “if you can dream it, you can make it”.
As the mind is very important and powerful, it is also very fragile. Without proper training and control of the mind, it absolve whatever it is given without proper selection. If Abraham Lincoln had succumbed to the abuses and failures he got, perhaps we would not have known him. If Isaac Newton had obeyed his mother, if he had not gone back to school, maybe the laws he wrote would be yet to be discovered. This people and more are great because they made up their minds and had total control of it. They knew what they wanted and went for it despite what may come. They controlled their actions because their minds were already made up.
The truth is as the engine of a car needs oil, there things the mind needs to always be effective.
-God’s inspiration
-Educative, motivational and inspirational books, magazines et cetera -Attending productive seminars and workshops.
-Making friends with the same goal.
-Meeting vision oriented people.
` -Having mentors and advisers.
There are many other points to write down or perhaps, you already know some but all sums up to ingesting positive materials and thoughts to your mind for positive thinking that leads to effectiveness and greatness.
You are meant to be great, to show the way to others. You are the chosen one as people success are tied to yours. No matter what people say you are, no matter your background, your age, your handicap, you are an epitome of greatness but you just need to educate YOU! REMEMBER, YOUR MIND IS YOUR ENGINE.
I am glad to have revealed this to you. At least my heart is at rest. But you still have a work to do, pass this message to others as two heads are better than one. You are great, I am great, together individually, we are unstoppable!

WHY IMPOSSIBLE IS POSSIBLE: a letter to all Nigerian youths

I write this letter to all Nigeria youths all over the country and beyond. I write this letter with the hope that it would be read and applied and not read and remain obstinate, and to all those that are numb to the problems that holds us captive in ignorant without hope of scaling through to reach to the zenith of our greatness. I write to all who pledge to their motherland with all their strength to be faithful, loyal and honest, to serve her and to defend her unity and uphold her honor, making God the witness. I write to all who holds my country to a high esteem and would gladly die for its course. I salute all who wants a positive change, who wants the best for this great nation, who would offer more than their best to the growth and development of the land. Finally, I hold in high esteem all those who make GOD the greatest priority to the development of a country.

I was still wondering why people uses the world IMPOSSIBLE as I surfed through the net. It was 2:15am and I was beginning to feel sleepy. Just then, I came across an article that made me regain my strength, the eagerness and enthusiasm I had wanted. The sleep had disappeared; I couldn’t feel it, not anymore. Was it because of the article or was it because I got what I was searching for-till now, it’s still a puzzle that is yet to be solved. Am I the first to see this was the first question that came to my mind but before I could answer, it disappeared leaving me hopeless. Then came the second that disappeared just as it came, like the flash of a camera. I made up my mind to wait for the next but before I could finish my sentences, it disappeared without even staying for a moment but this time, as prepared as I was, I heard and I listened. “Do people actually apply what they read”? This question came to me because with the kind of article I was looking at and reading without payment was enough to prove to anyone that impossible is possible.
I read of a boy who at the age of 8 raced into a burning school house to rescue his elder brother Floyd who was 10. Floyd died in the school house and when Glenn regained consciousness, the doctor recommended amputating his legs as he had lost all the flesh on his knees and shins and all the toes on his left foot. Also his transverse arch (an important part of his bone) was practically destroyed. The doctor predicted that he might not walk again. But young Glenn pleaded, he begged and because he was distressed, his parent would not allow it. Determined, coupled with hours of therapy, enabled him to gradually regain the ability to walk. It was two years after the accident. He had a positive attitude that there is no glory without a story. He knew that the strength was within and not some iron fixed to the legs. His favorite bible quote, Isaiah 40:31 “but those who wait on the lord shall renew their strengths, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint”, shows his strength in God. He could now walk but he wanted more and behold, he proceed to running.
This same 8 years old boy with determination and God won the Sullivan medal in 1932. In Olympics, he took the 4th place in the 1500m and in 1934; he set the world record for the mile run at 4:06.8 which stood for three years. In 1936, he set the world record again in the 800m run. This same boy set a world record again in the indoor mile run of 4:04.4.A boy who knew that there is nothing like impossible especially when with God.
After reading this, I just couldn’t stop thinking. I was stunned because it’s just rare to see the kind of determination Glenn Cunningham portrayed. I flashed back to the day I read a similar story but this time, about a grown-up who at 32 years was fired; attempted election to a legislative office and suffered defeat. At 33, he became bankrupt and at 34, he was elected to legislature. He lost his dear wife at 35 and broke down nervously at 36. At the age of 38, ha attempted speakership and lost the election and at 43, he failed Congress nomination. Fortunately for him, at 46, he secured a Congress ticket and lost the nomination at 48; at 49, he was rejected for land officer and he lost senatorial election and yet suffered another vice presidential nomination at 56. He was defeated for senate the second time at 58 and in 1860, this same man became the 16th president of the United States of America.
I keep asking myself this question, was he elected just to compensate him for his failures, was he elected so that he wouldn’t disturb them again, but the truth is obvious. Abraham Lincoln was determined. He removed the world IMPOSSIBLE from his vocabulary. His quote, “I am slow walker but I never stop” testify to this. Martin Luther King jnr. quoted Lincoln in his popular speech which he made at the steps of Lincoln monument.
Though am convinced at least with these stories and more, why do you still doubt? Believe me, I have taught deeply on this and I tell you, nothing can stand in your way to greatness; not even your parent, your age, your background or your handicap because God has made you great. To be candid, you have powers beyond imagination and   the adversity you encounter is what really strengthens you. Bob Harrison made it clear that, “between you and anything significant, there must be giants in your paths”. And remember the observation of Martin Luther King jnr. that, “the utmost measure of a man is not where he stands in times of comfort and conveniences, but where he stands in time of challenges and controversies”. Nothing good comes easy because you will always have a story to tell at the end, but there is nothing that is IMPOSSIBLE when you are in alliance with GOD. You can do it if you believe you can.
Now that I have written to you to the glory of God, maybe, just maybe I won’t be thinking much on this or better still I won’t be thinking at all because I know you are informed and will help inform others. TOGETHER INDIVIDUALLY, we can make GREAT things HAPPEN.
At least NO MORE fast question to APPEAR and DISSAPPEAR!!!

WHO AM I

As the bell alarm went off, Jonny got up from his bed knowing well that it was 6:00am. All the while, he had not been sleeping. He was stultified but couldn’t help thinking about what he had done some hours ago before the previous night. Had he had this potent all along without manifesting it, how on earth could he do a stuff like that, who really was he; these and other question were running through his mind but he had no answer for them as he was stunned. He was still debating over these when a loud voice made him got a hold of himself, it was as if an arrow had pierced his heart but got relieved when the voice came again. It was his mum signifying him that it was time for morning devotion.

Jonny did something that he didn’t know he could do. Just some years back, he was the dullard both in school and in the neighborhood but here he was being congratulated by his family for emerging as the best overall student in school. For him, it was a red-letter day. Jonny was not good at school but he licked into shape. He could remembered when his name was announced, he could not believed his ears, “was it my hearing or had the committee made a mistake”, he murmured to himself. The crowds were not left out in the astonishment for they couldn’t believe what they just heard. As he made his way to collect the award, he couldn’t help but cried as tears of joy rolled down his cheek. It was now clear that he was the best student. He was not sure if had done it but the truth is he had it in him.

Following the mis-conception that has eaten deep in the minds of people, most youths have forgotten who they are and what they are made of. They tend to forget that the conquering of the earth has assigned to them by God. Just as Jonny was, most youths today are still dullards in some areas of life without knowing that they can do more than they have always been doing, for Anthony Robbins observed that, “what lies before us, behind us and around us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us”. As John Mason made it obvious that one of the most neglected areas in many lives is the area of the gift that God has placed within them. Many of us- the youths- have forgotten who they really are which leads frequently to this same question as Jonny. WHO AM I?

Man’s body was estimated to about 2 trillion dollars. This estimation was made on just the body; the soul was not included nor was the potent that was within. It was just the mere flesh and possibly the organs in the body that would all decay someday. This report states explicitly that man is precious, beyond price, he is priceless. One most important thing you must know is that you are more than a computer because computers has everything that a programmer installs but it can’t operate on its own but you, you have been installed with all the program to do something great and yet given the freedom to operate yourself.

Myles Munroe would answer, “You are not a cheese but an image of God”. Do you know what magnificent power you wield as you are reading this article, you are unstoppable. Know it my friend, you are a light to many and your existence is a blessing as people’s successes are attached to yours. You have the ability of becoming a writer, an artist, a scientist, musicians, minister, you have it in you, of going into any business you wish studying any professional course, you can become great in anything you are doing whether it’s small or big, obsolete or new because you are destined to be great, to be succeeding; that is who you are. The richest place on earth is not the oil ground or the diamond and gold mines or even the grave yard, the richest place is you. You have not been discovered and nobody can, except you. Nobody can place a value on you. You are GREAT. You have been equipped to till, to conquer, to subdue. You were created in God’s image to do great things. That is who you are. Just as Jonny didn’t know, until he was committed to change, his potent were just dormant within him as it is in most youths today who strive to acquire the products of the knowledge of the past without quest to provide with their knowledge, the product for the future.

What lies in you, what dormant powers you posses, your reserve potent are far beyond what you think or can ever imagine. The truth is you have the attributes of your creator; you are like God because he wants you, because he loves you so much that he created you for his glory. He gave you the authority to use it for your benefit and most especially for that of others. He also gave you the manuals {theoretical (bible)} and the {practical (Christ)} to know how he wishes you operate yourself. This means you can do all things regardless of your religion, age, tribe, sex, social status, language because He gave you the mandate to do so.

The absolute truth about your existence is that you came here for a purpose, to make God smile, to make your neighbors smile, to make your country pleased about your contributions. You are here not by mistake of any sort as Peter Gaskin said that, “because many sperm fought before you a zygote that is you emerged, you are not a mistake”. Before you wake, God has already programmed you to do great things and no matter where you find yourself or in what condition you find yourself in, you have people like you who have gone through the same situation and yet succeeded, you can still do something great, you can rewrite the world’s history, you can shake the world by reasons of new things that God can do through your hands (you). You can command the supernatural because that’s who you are, that is what you have in you. There is no limit to your greatness except the one you lay for yourself as John Morley remarked, “no man can climb out beyond the limitation of his own character”.

Unless you refuse to see all odds as Bob Harrison advised, “Between you and any significant thing lies giants on the path”. This generation will miss something if you are comfortable with yourself or with your success, you have to know that, it’s not all you can do, you can do more. Helen Keller observed that, “if you put your face towards sunshine, you will never see shadow”. In your quest to know who really you are, to drill out your potent for the good of mankind and the glory of God, you have to heed Oral Robert advice, “before you bring about a renewal or change, there must be confrontations”. But once you can control your mind, you definitely can control your actions.

You are meant to add to the riches of the earth (living) not the grave yard (dead). You are created to bring smile to earth, to bring smile to God. Regardless of what people say you are, good or bad, prince or commoner, you are not it until you want to be it. You can never be a loser because you aren’t meant to be one but yourself. YOU ARE WHO YOU WANT TO BE.

DREAM

What can thee do without me
From unconciousness i emerged through
But to dwell in reality
Fulfilling the wishes of thee
That toil day and night for me.

Of paradise I was
With the qualities of thee
In perpection I formed
With fulfilled vision and mission
Giving hope to thee

But how can I be
If am just but a wish
Which wouldn't work
Oh! how can I fulfill thy me
When am discarded in welcome

In humility I boast
For out of me comes success
Through consistency and hardwork
For a while I seem impossible
For eternity I become real

Then I shine to ye
Whose heart is great
Who stops what he started not
Who knows that I am but
 An impossible possible

Alas! for big I might be
But suppressed by humility
To be wished! wished!! wished!!!
Open a secret I am
For I can be without thee

Nemesis to ye that never wake
To thou who love me raw
Corner stone thou made me
Who builds on reality
For twice a coin portrays.
